AUDITORY NEUROSCIENTIST

The Department of Hearing & Speech Sciences at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is looking to fill a tenure-track opening at the Assistant or Associate Professor level for an AUDITORY NEUROSCIENTIST. The ideal candidate would have a research program structured to examine central auditory processes with an emphasis on development and plasticity, and would be expected to interact extensively with current departmental faculty as well as with scientists in the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development and the Vanderbilt Brain Institute. The department has existing research strengths in both basic and clinical issues related to peripheral and central auditory processes and in cross-modal (i.e., auditory-visual) function. The neuroscience community at Vanderbilt is highly multidisciplinary, spans the molecular to the systems levels, and employs a wide array of cutting-edge approaches. The successful candidate must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree and should have an existing portfolio of scholarship and extramural support, or show great promise in garnering such support, and will be expected to teach and mentor within the Hearing & Speech and Neuroscience graduate programs. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF AUDIOLOGY

SECTION: DOCTOR OF AUDIOLOGY (Au.D.) PROGRAM

The Doctor of Audiology Program at the University of Louisville School of Medicine has a vacancy for an Assistant Professor of Audiology.

Teach doctoral level courses in electrophysiologic techniques, differential diagnosis, medical audiology, auditory pathologies, etc., conduct research, provide limited patient care, and participate in other scholarly activities. The Au.D. program is situated in the Division of Communicative Disorders, Department of Surgery.

Preference will be given to Au.D./Ph.D. holders, but applications will be accepted from Ph.D. and Au.D. candidates who have a strong interest in establishing an independent research program. Candidates must have the CCC-A and be eligible for Kentucky licensure. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position.

The program is housed administratively and physically within the Health Sciences Center in downtown Louisville, Ky. Opportunities for multidisciplinary interactions abound. There are currently 40+ Au.D. students enrolled, and expansion is anticipated. The program uses a wide array of clinical teaching sites, including acute care hospitals, a major pediatric hospital, the V.A. hospital, a school for deaf and hard-of-hearing children, and private practices.

ASSISTANT, ASSOCIATE, OR FULL PROFESSOR

The Oregon Hearing Research Center (OHRC) invites applicants for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor who use molecular, cellular, or systems approaches to auditory and vestibular neuroscience. Senior postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to maintain an outstanding program of original research and to be an effective teacher at the graduate level. The OHRC, located in beautiful Portland, Oregon, is among the top auditory research centers in the US, with faculty studying the cellular and molecular aspects of development, function, and disease of the inner ear and auditory central nervous system. SPEECH/VOICE SCIENTIST POSITION

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) is soliciting applications for a faculty position in the newly formed Communication Sciences Research Center (CSRC). The CSRC is a multidisciplinary center affiliated with the clinical divisions of Audiology, Otolaryngology and Speech Pathology at CCHMC. We are seeking applicants at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, with an exceptional record of research productivity. This position offers qualified applicants the opportunity to develop basic and/or translational research programs in pediatric voice or speech sciences in collaboration with existing voice, swallowing, airway and craniofacial teams at CCHMC. Our intent is to recruit a voice or speech scientist that can utilize and complement the tremendous clinical resources and experience within our institution. The pediatric SLP program at CCHMC currently includes over 100 speech-language pathologists and manages over 25,000 pediatric patients/year with speech, voice or language disorders. The Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology comprises more than a dozen faculty, with four specialists in airway and voice reconstruction.

The candidate must have a PhD and a history of successful extramural funding in the area of voice or speech research. Compensation and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications of the applicant. This person will be an employee of CCHMC with a faculty affiliation at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and/or Allied Health Departments. Expertise in anatomy and physiology, amplification, and/or aural re/habilitation is desirable, candidates with other interests will be considered. A demonstrated or developing area of research is desirable. CCC-A and eligibility for Ohio licensure desired.

Responsibilities: The position entails teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, conducting and disseminating scholarly research, directing student research, engaging in student clinical training and participating in service activities.
