Position Description: The University of Washington Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is seeking a full-time Chief of Pediatric Audiology at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor without tenure by reason of funding, commensurate with experience. This position will have a 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30). University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. This position will be expected to engage in clinical and scholarly activities, with a research component.
Primarily located at Seattle Children’s Hospital, this position will have clinical accountability for provision of audiological clinical and directorship services. This position supports the UW Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery Department’s and Seattle Children’s Hospital’s shared mission to train and further develop the programs for children who are deaf/hard of hearing, and to advance hearing related research. This position will have accountability for the delivery and implementation of services in the Division of Audiology at Seattle Children’s. Professional services shall include, but not be limited to:
- Directorship for clinical audiology services, including overseeing and training audiologists, aural habilitation specialists, audiology students. Participate in audiology education of resident physicians, fellows, medical students,
- Oversight of clinical research in hearing sciences providing input in performance evaluations for members of the Division of Audiology;
- Partnering with Audiology clinical management team and Childhood Communication Center to oversee and develop clinical services and outreach programs,
- Developing and reviewing administrative and clinical policies and procedures pertaining to the Division of Audiology;
- Facilitating meetings of audiologists and other clinical professionals;
- Provide direct patient care and compliant documentation and billing in SCH’s clinical medical record

Qualifications: The applicant must have completed an AuD or PhD (or foreign equivalent) in a related field and a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A). The successful candidate must have excellent patient care skills and broad clinical experience, and a documented track record in scholarship. Candidates must also be eligible for Washington State Audiology licensure. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary setting overseeing a team of audiologists and enthusiasm for teaching.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
