Job Description: “The Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has an open position for a tenure-track regular faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. We seek outstanding individuals with research focused on mechanistic investigations that employ quantitative approaches (biophysical, electrophysiological, structural, imaging, and/or cell-biological) to understand fundamental processes in molecular or cellular physiology.  We particularly encourage candidates whose questions and approaches complement and/or extend the Department’s existing research strengths in ion channels, molecular biophysics, membrane protein physiology, neuroscience, sensory systems, and cardiovascular and muscle research (//www.medschool.ucdenver.edu/physiology). Successful applicants are expected to lead a vigorous, externally funded research program and to participate in professional and graduate teaching.

Appointees will join a vibrant and growing Department under the new leadership of Dr. David DiGregorio – hired as Chair in January 2023 – with a commitment to mentoring faculty and trainees from diverse backgrounds. Research interests in the Department currently include cardiac and skeletal muscle physiology, ion channel biophysics, molecular physiology, cell signaling, sensory and motor systems, and synaptic function. Extra-departmental interactions within molecular biophysics, neuroscience and physiology, including basic science and translational collaborations, are facilitated by several NIH-supported interdepartmental graduate programs and centers (e.g., Neuroscience Program, Pharmacology program, Structural Biology and Biochemistry program). Other shared resources include cores for biophysics and molecular interactions, molecular structure, electron microscopy, proteomics, and transgenic rodents. Diversity and Equity: The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is committed to recruiting and supporting a diverse student body, faculty and administrative staff. The university strives to promote a culture of inclusiveness, respect, communication and understanding. We encourage applications from women, ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, persons within the LGBTQ+ community and all veterans. The University of Colorado is committed to diversity and equality in education and employment.
