Indiana University School of Medicine – Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery
Postdoctoral Position—Stem Cell Biology
We are looking for a motivated and creative post-doctoral fellow to join our group at the Indiana School of Medicine. Our lab studies pathophysiology of the inner ear using a novel human stem cell-derived 3D inner ear organoid model in conjunction with genetic mouse models. We are specifically interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of TMPRSS3-mediated hair cell and neuronal degeneration. We are also interested in inner ear development using mouse and human inner ear organoids.
Experimental approaches being used in the lab include CRISPR/Cas9, single cell RNA-seq, cell culture with live cell imaging, immunohistochemistry with confocal microscopy, Ca2+ imaging, coimmunoprecipitation and proteomics. Our dynamic inner ear research group includes Rick Nelson MD PhD and Eri Hashino, PhD. Publications from our group appear in Stem Cell Reports, Nature Biotechnology and Nature.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in biomedical sciences. Previous research experience in genetics and/or proteomics is highly desirable, but not required. Salary is compatible with NIH pay schedule.
Applications should include a cover letter describing research experience & interests, CV, and contact information of three references. Indiana University is an equal opportunity employer.
