Postdoctoral Research Associate Position – UNC
A postdoctoral research associate position is available to study the cellular mechanisms involved in information processing in the central auditory system at the single cell and neural circuit levels. The current efforts are focussed on the consequences of noise-induced hearing loss on central auditory neuronal excitability and circuit organization. This is part of an NIH-funded project, in an established, active and collaborative research laboratory.
The person in this position will be responsible for independently conducting research using in vitro brain slice electrophysiology from brainstem and/or cortical neurons of juvenile and adult animals using patch clamp recordings, electrical stimulation, optogenetics (laser scanning photostimulation), fluorescence imaging, and 2-photon calcium imaging in mouse models, and in vivo recordings from neurons in the auditory brainstem. Additional participation in computational modeling of auditory circuits is a part of the projects.
Qualified candidates should hold a PhD in a biomedical, engineering or related field.
