Research Assistant II-Otolaryngology – Vanderbilt University Medical Center
The Jan lab studies the mammalian inner ear by answering fundamental questions of development and regeneration and performing translational research using disease models of hearing loss. Our research aims to transform the understanding of hearing loss and identify the mechanisms that can be targeted for diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from hearing and balance impairment. We study regeneration in the context of injury models of the hearing and balance organs. By leveraging cutting edge computational tools, combined with systems biology approaches and in vivo models, we aim to decipher mechanisms of mammalian hair cell regeneration.
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant Level II in the Jan Lab within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck surgery. Appointee will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have formal teaching responsibility. RAIIs are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions.
This research position is for individuals who must have received their bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, neuroscience, or a related field with at least 2 years of experience. The position requires a background in wet lab experience with a preference for those with basic science research laboratory experience. Responsibilities will include wet lab experiments and other duties as assigned.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and training.
