Research Position in Mechanosensitive Ion Channels (Peng Lab)-University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus
We seek a new team member (Post-doc or Research Associate) for an NIH-funded research project focusing on the molecular mechanisms of hair cell mechanotransduction, building on recently published work (Caprara et al., 2020, Science Advances; Li et al., 2020, Nature Communications). To see more about research in the lab, please visit www.haircellphysiology.com. The position will primarily entail performing patch clamp electrophysiology with mechanical stimulation and high-speed video recordings (10,000 fps). This position reports directly to Dr. Anthony Peng in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics. The applicant will be responsible for designing, performing, and analyzing research experiments. Applicants with experience in neuroscience, neurobiology, ion channel physiology, cell biology, or engineering would be strong candidates.
The start date of the position is as soon as desired and the position will be determined based on experience.
There are also T32 fellowship opportunities for post-docs available through an NIDCD funded training grant awarded to the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery. The department and campus have multiple auditory and vestibular researchers as well as ion channel physiologists in a very collegial environment leading to multiple opportunities of collaboration. Additionally, our lab closely collaborates with Jung-Bum Shin’s lab at UVA which provides complementary expertise in hair cells.
