NEOMED (Northeast Ohio Medical University) has an opening for a talented postdoctoral-level auditory neuroscientist to join our Hearing Research Group as a Research Faculty Ignite Scholar. The Research Faculty Ignite Scholar role provides a mentored pathway toward a Tenure Track Faculty position. The program is designed to provide a platform for building a robust research program with minimal initial teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate will identify one or more senior mentors in the Hearing Research Group to work with over two to three years, to conduct research and develop an independent research program. After success during this period, including meeting productivity criteria and demonstration of teaching competence, the scholar will automatically be appointed to a tenure track assistant professor position.

The Hearing Research Group (HRG) at NEOMED includes 8 NIH-funded PIs working on various questions and disorders in auditory neuroscience. Expertise includes anatomical, physiological, imaging, behavioral, computational, and pharmacological techniques applied at the cellular, systems, and behavioral levels. The HRG has weekly meetings to discuss data or journal articles, and sponsors a seminar series that brings in ~10 neuroscientists each year. The wide range of expertise and openness of the environment is invigorating and supportive, enabling regular theoretical and technical brainstorming and improving the quality and breadth of our research.
