The University of Rochester Department of Otolaryngology is hiring an Assistant Director of Audiology
Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY
Directs the clinical Audiology programs, providing clinical services as part of patient care. Provides education and leadership for professional staff. Participates in research efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops and implements services in response to physician and patient needs.
- Provides direct patient service as available.
- Ensures appropriate use and growth of the department’s services through marketing programs to patients and physicians.
- Develops and implements departmental management objectives.
- Oversees professional, technical, and support staff in the department of Audiology.
- Hires new staff, evaluates performance, and recommends promotions and salary adjustments as needed.
- Directs the training and orientation of new staff.
- Develops and monitors the department’s budget and manages the expenditure of the department’s resources.
- Develops, monitors, and ensures compliance with billing and revenue collection policies and procedures.
- Maintains fiscal responsibility for the department’s financial activities.
- Evaluates the appropriateness of the Department’s equipment and makes recommendations for the replacement of obsolete equipment.
- Prepares, maintains, and evaluates Departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory, Hospital and University policies and requirements, including JCAHO, Department of Health, and other external regulatory organizations.
- Oversees, collaborates and/or establishes research studies, working with Otolaryngology, Pediatrics, Neurology and other specialty services.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with referring physicians and other departments to ensure optimum patient care and effective delivery of service.
- Develops and participates in educational programs for other health care professionals as requested by respective Chairs.
- Attends and participates in professional meetings to keep abreast of developments in the fields of Audiology.
- Ensures professional staff in the department have the latest clinical education to provide excellent patient care services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Education & Experience: Master’s Degree in Audiology required
- And 7 years’ experience in Audiology, including 3 years of supervisory experience required.
- PhD or Au.D. in Audiology preferred.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities required.
- High degree of flexibility and learning agility required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Certification by the American Board of Audiology or the American Academy of Audiology upon hire required.
- New York State License in Audiology upon hire required.
- NYS Hearing Aid Dispenser Registration upon hire required.
