Postdoctoral Researcher
Auditory Neuroscience & Membrane Biophysics
George Lab · Department of Neurobiology and Biophysics · University of Washington, Seattle
The George Lab in the Department of Neurobiology and Biophysics at the University of Washington in Seattle is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher. Our lab studies the membrane biophysical mechanisms underlying mammalian auditory mechanotransduction (MET) in cochlear hair cells. We use a wide range of multidisciplinary approaches, including advanced fluorescence imaging, patch clamp electrophysiology, and membrane-manipulation tools, in rat and mouse models. Specific aims will be discussed with qualified candidates during the interview process.
We are affiliated with the Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center at the University of Washington which provides a vibrant and collaborative research environment in auditory and vestibular neuroscience. The University of Washington is a vibrant center of biomedical research spanning departments in the arts and sciences, engineering, and the medical school, with close interactions with nearby institutions including Fred Hutch Cancer Center, the Allen Institute, and the Institute for Systems Biology. It is located three miles north of downtown Seattle, a city with abundant cultural attractions, a booming tech industry, and an unsurpassed variety of nearby outdoor activities.
