A full-time Postdoctoral position or Research Associate II position is available in September 2026 in
the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Our lab is
located on the Galveston campus, about one hour south of Houston, in an exceptionally active
infectious disease research environment.

Our laboratory’s primary research focus is viral sensorineural hearing loss. You may also have the
opportunity to contribute to other inner ear research projects.

Our research involves a wide range of techniques, including imaging, flow cytometry, animal
microsurgery, virological experiments, cell culture, basic molecular biology techniques (cloning,
qPCR, western blotting, etc.), auditory testing, and transcriptomic analysis.

Salary and benefits will follow the university’s standard rates for postdoctoral fellows or research
associate II.

Required Qualifications
• PhD in biology or related field, or MD (Postdoctoral)
• B.S. or M.S. in biology or related field (Research Associate)
• Research experience in molecular biology.
• Experience in animal handling and surgery, or a willingness to learn/develop these skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Background in inner ear research
• Background in virology
